This is really, really mediocre - why does it have such good reviews?

Based on the reviews here, I really thought that I was in for a treat.. Unfortunately, it was a largely a waste of time.

First off, the good stuff: 1. Martin Freeman is fantastic, but I don't think the writers knew what to do with his character. I'm impressed with his versatility (compare his character in this series to his character in Fargo)

2. Edi Gathegi steals the show though. I'd never heard of him, and I really hope we all see much more of him. His character is limited, but he makes him much more interesting.

Now the bad stuff (Yup, only two good things)

1. During the episodes there are ads (fair enough, it's a free show so this is a fair price to pay). But along with the ads there are profiles on entrepreneurs which are quite interested, but only the first time you see it. For some reason they just start repeating the same profile every few episodes - it's annoying, show me an ad instead!

2. This is probably my number one pet peeve: during the show they also have a "Director's Insight". And boy, is it retarded. It explains the show to us, MIDWAY through the show. And it explains the plot like we're idiots. Ben Ketai is the one interviewed, and because he's the Executive Producer too, I'm assuming this was his decision - very self- indulgent. I had to put these segments on mute because his comments were so vacuous, and had to look away while it played because they also show images of scenes not yet shown - I mean.. spoilers!

3. The writing is WEAK. Seriously weak. At no point is it very clear about how this new crypto-currency will change the world, it's just going to. It's not clear why they need to raise money either. I mean, I get the reasons, but it's by giving the writers waaay too much credit. I shouldn't fill in the gaps people, you should!

4. This is not a complete season. It ends setting us up for season 2. This is just lazy writing, and would have been very simple to give a good ending to the season, while also setting up a second season.

5. The plot is thin

6. The female and male leads are just hammy actors, unlikable characters, and poor actors.

7. I dislike this series so much I spent 10 minutes writing a review so others would avoid it, but now I'm so bored even thinking about the series that I'm just going to stop.
