For me Once Upon a Time has always worked. It's far from perfect, the CGI is dodgy and a lot of the "good" characters are juts plan irritating. However it works. It's fun, it's entertaining and Regina and Rumpelstiltskin/Gold are wonderfully acted and interesting villains.
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland is not even close to the same quality. It's bland, the acting is passable at best and wooden at worst. There is far too much CGI. If a show is going to rely so heavily on computer generated environments then it needs better looking effects. As it is what we're shown looks worse then what we saw back in the days of Babylon 5. The plot so far is uninspiring. Alice is on a quest to find her lost love. That only works if the viewer has any emotional investment in either character.
In fairness I only gave this show one episode but just that 45 minutes were difficult to sit through. I will not be watching episode 2.
