The anachronisms are obvious, but the least of my worries, considering this is fantasy. Yet, this universe is apparently a black and white one. There are no grey colors in it to explore. The animation is great at times, particularly in the action scenes. The back grounds and atmosphere are also quite cool and attractive. But I find some things irritating. The dialogues for instance. Goats and all, the female character, for example, didn't need to say "I don't need to be saved". I am a woman and if I can't save myself I would hope for somebody to try. Hearing this just puts this anime to the level of Supergirl, which is not exactly brilliant.

Also, the Orthodox Church is portrayed as the Catholic Church and like a very twisted one where every single member of it is a murderer, like nothing good ever came from it, like they hide the secrets of eternity from poor innocent people. There is no exploration of the minds back in 1475, of course. Even Belmont laughs at the idea that a priest can make holly water. On the other hand, bad actions are justified when they come from Dracula or the silly manipulated masses. Whatever happened with Dracula's wife is not explored either, because she was a scientist,'cause, you know, the Church is pure evil, because the Church is full of manipulative murderers, simple as that; and because, because the Spanish black legend is soooooo real it has to invade other countries...

I hope you appreciate my sarcasm. If in reality civil authorities were the ones killing, it doesn't matter here, the fact that most of criminals wanted to be judged by the Inquisition to achieve pardon and get free doesn't matter either... The fact that nothing of that happened in Romania at that time matters even less since this work is totally empty and based on presumptions accepted by a majority who watched a couple of movies.

So there your have it. The good characters are so handsome, while the bad ones are so ugly. It leaves it very clear for the audience what to think about every single one of them. No doubts. The characters themselves tell you what to think. In other words, the show is designed to achieve a few objectives: to call for attention, to reach the applause of a section of the population and to guide some lost sheep into anticlericalism and hate using a misguided version of the facts, using the lack of knowledge on the subject that surrounds the world, feeding it with presumptions no one will care to investigate. This kind of stuff is clearly naive and doctrinaire.

I would advice to skip it all to the last ten minutes of the series.
