It's funny but me & my husband never watched the show that much when it was still being produced. We have never been much for "appointment viewing" TV. But after the show finished up and started running in nightly reruns on TBS, it happened to coincide with the time where we are finishing up dinner and sit down to relax. So we have since become habitual ELR viewers.

The more we watched, the more we became hooked! Whoever put this cast together should teach other shows how to combine the perfect cast. I can't imagine any other actors in these rolls. If I had to pick out a favorite one, I'm not sure that I could. Doris Roberts is a pure genius in her roll. No wonder she won 4 Emmys for her portrayal of the MIL from hell. But Debra gives it as good as she gets from Ray's mom. It took me a while to warm up to Debra at first. But the more I watch, the funnier she gets. I think she is a lot funnier than Ray. But they are perfect to play off each other. I'm shocked that Peter Boyle never won an Emmy for his role as Ray's dad. He is a classic man from that generation. Thank goodness those dinosaurs are mostly extinct!

I'm not one that laughs easily at TV shows - I'm a pretty hard customer there. But for some reason, this show gets me laughing at loud on a regular basis. Now, I won't say that EVERY episode is a laugh factory as some can fall flat. But what do you expect when churning out season after season for 9 years. But by & large, I laugh a lot! And as they say, laughter is good medicine - that must be why I always feel good after watching this!
