William Hill World Darts Championship | PDC

December 14 - January 1

Van Gerwen versus Wright. One of a few great finals possible at this year's major darts festival.

This combination is the final of the Grand Slam Of Darts, about to start right now and I've watched all nine days so far.

Wright was 7-13 down to Anderson in the semis but forced a deciding leg and a rueful smile from Anderson into the bargain.

The World Championships start in earnest on the 14th December but it will soon come around and I'm minded to start a thread now for the few of us who will write in it.

And we're off. Day one of the World Championship. First up is Steve Beaton against William O'Connor who entered to The Pogues' Wild Rover.

Aleksandr Oreshkin. Glad he went out. Must be the most boring player to watch, so slow - belongs on a snooker table.

After his heroics the other evening, veteran Paul Lim gets another shot, this time against Gary Anderson.

There are. Hope Suljovic will be the next. Currently on the oche against Bob Thornton. Suljovic has a face you just wanna punch, annoying little weasel. Red hot at double 14's though.

Shock of the night was Snakebite succumbing to Jamie Lewis but Gerwyn Price, PMSL all his antics, chest pumping out because he ought to have gone 3-2 ahead, Michael has not played well since being 2-0 ahead but I'm thinking, WTF is that all about, you really think you have a chance? Iceman you will be in broken in pieces very soon.

Q-FINAL: Van Gerwen 5-4 Van Barneveld

Dutch delight! Would have made a grea final. Barney had darts to win almost every set.

Phil Taylor looks like he's in the semis to play young Welsh wizard Jamie Lewis.

But Gary Anderson has come back from 1-4 to 3-4 down at the moment.

Pressure got to Lewis, would love Cross to beat Van Gerwin, don't think he will though.
