This movie had a lot of references to the sonic video games, like the levels, ice cap zone from sonic the hedgehog 3, and labyrinth zone from the same game. knuckles was pretty funny, knuckles had serious, yet funny personality, but he is not really that dumb (just gullible), not to wear the  sonic boom level of dumb. So yeah This movie is pretty much ????heavily inspired by sonic 2, 3, and S&K
