Usually I don't mind watching a film with fresh faces in it, but definitely not a fan of the fresh faces can't emote.
The same old hunky beardy person who is supposed to be very sharp witted (because he is supposed to be a writer) does not work because if you have to show him being charming and clever, then writing has to support that. The dialogues are cringe worthy and the acting is absolutely jaded from both the protagonists.
The plot is wafer thin. Sample this. To show an immediate attraction between the boy and girl, it shown that the guy is willing to create a scene in a cafe, physically manhandling an old woman and create a ruckus till he gets slapped by that old woman. And this is them meeting them for the first EVER time. Looks like the writers could not think of a better meet-cute and that's just plain sad.
Don't forget plagiarism. If you are a cinephile you will surely come across plot points lifted from other movies/shows. Example- Those who have seen How I Met Your Mother, Season 2 ep 12- First Time in New York, will know when Varun saves Sia's sister from losing her virginity to her boyfriend after giving her the "talk", goes exactly like when Ted saves Robin's sister from losing her virginity to her boyfriend. Except HIMYM is (literally) a million times better.
The actor tries his best to come off as a playful and funny but is quite dull. The lawyer female does not act like a lawyer. Like ever. The funny parts are age old and have stopped being funny since 2003. And what's with the overtly bright sets. The makers really need to work on accurate ambient lights and shadows. Also, please hire good writers, nobody talks that way when they are alone or with friends.
It requires a lot of editing, better dialogues and a much, much improved acting performance from the cast to render this movie to be barely watchable.
Review- Skip it. Rating- 2.5/10.
