On the face of it, OK Computer appears like a murder mystery made unique by its futuristic setting. But what sets it apart is its social commentary and the pertinent questions it asks along the way. Are robots essentially just assembled pieces of metal and silicon, or are we hurtling towards a future where we'll have to tackle the question of recognising AI as a non-human but definite consciousness? Should we consider technology a bane that's making us less human and inefficient physically, or is it the next step of human evolution? OK Computer asks these questions and more, and it does so in a delightfully humorous way that makes such profound questions grounded and palatable.
The creators have done a great job in bringing to life a well-detailed alternate world that forces us to take a good hard look at our own real one. Go laugh at the zany quirkiness of OK Computer, but at the end of it all, don't forget to peel the layers and uncover the questions it raises.
