This is another film I saw in Saudi Arabia on the local "Movie Hits" network. My fellow service members and I watched the whole thing for the simple reason that nothing else was being broadcast in English at the time. This is the story of a woman who's husband goes off to war and she is left to work for the war effort at home. The film does give an accurate depiction of life in the United States during the war. The factories are worked solely by women and men over 45 and are guarded by men in service uniforms armed with machine guns. However, that seems to be the films only redeeming quality. The story is slow and not very interesting. SPOILER- I actually disliked Hawn's character because she was so quick to cheat on her husband while he was away serving his country. Russell's character is a player who has no issue with having an affair with a married woman's husband who is away defending the nation. I don't recall the infamous towel scene with Ed Harris, maybe the movie had put me to sleep at that point.
