John Wayne starred in this film with none other Katharine Hepburn. As unlikely as it might seem the two Legends got to know each other and had a deep mutual respect in fact a deep admiration. It was great seeing Duke spar with the great Kate, and it was equally great to see Ms Hepburn ride a horse so well. Filmed on location in Oregon this Hal Wallis (another movie legend!) film has spectacular scenery.
Sidebar note: This was a Universal picture and Duke Wayne worked at Warners, 20th, MGM, UA, Paramount but boycotted Columbia. Columbia honcho Harry Cohn made a slanderous accusation against Wayne and Duke Wayne remembered it and no matter what project Columbia offered Duke Wayne turned down. Columbia even offered to buy John Wayne's indie company Batjac! Columbia a great studio but couldn't nail a Duke Wayne picture
