A wee one comes into the life of mystery bookstore owner Kellie Martin. An old
friend Vicki Davis drops in for a visit bringing husband Richard Lee Jackson and an
infant in tow. Of course Martin makes them welcome.
Soon enough Jackson becomes a suspect in a murder and he disappears. And then Davis goes chasing after Jackson when he telephones and she leaves the
little one with Martin and her mentor Clarence Williams III.
Turns out Jackson is in one big and deep jackpot. He's accused of murder and the
police are looking for him. And the folks who really did the deed are also looking for him and put a bullet in him too. That's when he called for his
wife. That's when she leaves the infant with Kellie Martin.
Davis and Jackson make a very nice couple much in love and trapped in something not of their own making. Good thing she has Kellie Martin for a
friend, it's almost Hitchcockian the way the fates have befallen them.
This was a nicely put together story. Now that Kellie Martin is Hailey Dean I
wonder if she'll ever return to this series.
