Despite opinions all over the board, this movie continues to age well, with great performances throughout (except perhaps for a couple). Clearly the writing is superior to Murder by Death, which, for reasons that escape me, consistently receives better reviews. The timing is flawless, the plot essentially so convoluted and incestuous as to be mesmerizing, in a way perfectly reflective of the genre and the era. This is a film that I have consistently seen people come around to, and deserves a place in the late night I really need a laugh category. It's work, however, and perhaps that's too much for many - you have to know the references and pay attention throughout. The return's worth it, however.
