American Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn lead a predominantly Italian cast in this mythical story of Ulysses returning home to Penelope. The film is quite entertaining if not dated though over the years. The Italian cast do a first rate job as an ensemble. While some parts of the storyline are difficult to digest, this film was done in 1954. The film director did the best to tell a story about love surviving and conquering all. For quite a small budget, this film is worth watching at least once to appreciate how Kirk Douglas is still regarded as a legend in the film industry and his career.
