Among my favorite TV series. I agree with a previous comment that it was very reminiscent of Highlander, containing numerous flashbacks to times long since past, recurring enemies and friends, and an otherwise similar feel with the character interactions and setting.
What I found particularly intriguing was the relationship between the sympathetic and essentially "good" lead, Nick, and the conniving, manipulative, "evil" side character of LaCroix. Their personalities clashed, and Nick would often argue and be repulsed by the inherent evil within LaCroix. Yet at the end of nearly every episode, Nick would seek LaCroix's advice on a number of topics. And LaCroix would always be eager to lend his assistance and often good advice mixed in with his deliciously wicked banter.
I highly recommend this series.
