John Cryer is a stock broker in Manhattan, with some sketchy clients. When it turns out that they're mobsters, the FBI wants him to testify, and other witnesses are getting whacked, Cryer decides on his plan: shave his beard and hide out in high school, with only his neurotic cousin, Keith Coogan aware of who he is.
This is one of those movies where I find myself saying "I want to like this movie, so I will accept this idiotic premise, which is clearly miscalculated to appeal to teens, to see how amusing it can be." Despite some cringeworthy moments, like his love interest being Annabeth Gish, who is notionally 17, and the soundtrack being stereotypical for a 1980s teen comedy -- which is what it is -- there are some funny moments. Nothing laugh-out-loud funny, but enough to keep me interested.
