We have a vibrant film community in Portland, many of us have fed and clothed our families with industry income. It's repugnant that producers don't do their homework to see that Portland is the new popular story capitol (actually has been for several years), instead continuing to film in Canada thinking it will be cheaper. Hundreds of (Hallmark) films and shows have been produced here over 30 years, including Goonies, Paint Your Wagon (1960s), GRIMM, etc. We've worked diligently to create incentives to keep Hollywood coming back and it's a slap in the face to see them poorly and inaccurately substitute foreign locations for a convenient filming community in the USA (just north of California).
