Joe Pera Talks with You is an honest and successful attempt at approaching comedy in a non-mainstream way. Joe Pera's wholesome choir teacher character is nervous and awkward without being distracting and taking away from the overall calming and positive feel of the show. The writing is witty and surprising, and together with the aesthetically pleasing cinematography, beautifully tone-appropriate soundtrack and impressive performances by Jo Firestone and Joe Pera (among others) it results in a very pleasant watch. Joe Pera Talks with You is as relaxing as it is funny. The show has its own style that doesn't conform to the popular in-your-face-offensive interpretation of comedy. It does its own thing and it does it very well.
