Frank Zappa has contributed so much to the popular culture, including: the phrase "Freak Out", wine cooler (White port and Lemon juice), the "Valley Girl", profanity in music (hey--rap has nothing on Frank), his use of orchestrations may have inadvertently inspired "Disco", and what probably is his largest and least appreciated contribution--the music video. Although the "Three Stooges" are officially credited with inventing the Music Video, Frank Zappa transformed it into what it is today. Most rock and roll films up to this point either had the band playing their instruments or acting a scene, but in "200 motels" we see constant intercuts between the two, and sometimes the two are going on simultaneously. This simple act has inspired some of the best directors of our time to try their hands in this form.
We'll miss ya Frank!
