Please go see this film. What starts out as an informative, beautifully photographed documentary about sharks turns into an eye opening, tense film that left me wanting to DO something to "save our planet" & it's creatures. I know it sounds dramatic, but seeing the film, you will understand it's not just about these gentle creatures. It's about all things on our planet being connected, and how sharks fit in to a larger part of our environmental problems. I was very surprised at the turn the film takes, as it soon becomes more than a documentary. Though it does not really take a political side, it still manages to keep you interested while not hitting you over the head, trying to make you feel guilty, as some documentaries try to do. Yes, it can be a bit self indulgent, but I find the story of how the events unfold at the turning point of the film to be necessary. It is then not just about the shark's plight but also about the plight of the man trying to save them. Why not show his own hardship- he's earned it- (and you will see how). It's a fascinating look at one man's drive to do something about his passion, at the risk of so much. I will say again...Please go see this film.
