Yes the effects are shotty sometimes but it's supposed to be more educational than about the spectacle, however there are moments where the effects are still good to this day, Nigel, Bob and Suzanne are all good characters and you can sense a real scale and tension with some of the animals, the educational aspect is also quite interesting to those who want to get into prehistoric life, however another qualm is that to save money of effects they'll tend to repeat certain shots but other than that it's a great mini series that should have been a full show
