This TV show is overflowing with beauty. The protagonist's smile just shines through and gets to you. The images of the show do a great job in showing the cultural wealth of the Colombian coast and Cartagena, specifically. The episodes just flew by as we binge-watched this engaging story. The only issue is that it is a bit naïve in its portrayal of blackness, and oftentimes it could be thought of as "a black show for non-black audiences." Nevertheless, this is a novel concept of entertainment in Colombia, one where the protagonist is a black woman that teaches us, as much as it is able to, about the juxtaposition of Colombia's horrible history of slavery and misogyny intertwined with today's issues.
