I found the movie to be misleading compared to the trailer. The movie brings up rape culture and holding people accountable for their actions, which I find great but the main protests story arc isn't great. (Spoiler) The movie begins with Carey Mulligan character tricking men and scaring them by showing them how they almost raped her. The trailer made me think she was gonna kill these men, but instead shows them their true colors. She then gets revenge on the people who enabled a rapist on behalf of her best friend, and then going for the actual rapist. There is a undertone of a rom-com when she's with Bo Burnham but that quickly goes out the door and she goes back to her plan of tricking men. But then she dies at the hands of the rapist but had a plan for getting him arrested at the end. Yes she did get some semblance of Justice but was killed off for getting it, it would have been better if she lived and found peace doing it. |
