We both agreed to give up after 20 minutes. This was so full of implausibility that it was comedic:
widowed the evening before, she greets the police with a beaming smileher mother greets her recently widowed daughter with a nasty comment about her dressthe bank call centre's closure 'is there anything else we can help you with'her joke about the car accident victim to his grieving family
Perhaps this is being clever, too clever and a long game is being played, but it's either way over our heads or is as poor as it seems.
