Thackeray depicts a world where people behave carelessly and get away with it. A rather melodramatic version of reality.
The book is a stand alone book. With extreme friendships and personalities. But the book stands on its own two feet. Becky Sharp is indeed sharp! And her unlikely frienship, with Amelia Sedley, is so extreme, it can be refreshingly adorable! both girls doing a fine job!
This new and exciting version is far from straight, it portrays it's characters, beautifully, and the actors are a CREDIT to this version. I would say it's a pretty fine cast, and I hope people understand, it needed to be refreshed!
It's brand new with it's youthful cast and I hope people get that! How lifeless it would be, if copying the other versions! The were to say the least, stodgy! This isn't the stone age.
