I was definitely attracted to this almost entirely by the stellar pairing of Ellie White and Rebecca Front - two of the greatest British comedy talents of their respective generations finally working together is glorious on its own. The Other One is a tale of infidelity, family, awkwardly internalising your feelings and crossing perceived class boundaries in a fairly strong British TV tradition.
It's a rather broad and not particularly consistent show as it both lacks the serious venom of something like Nighty Night but also the warm characterisation of something like King Gary - sitting somewhere awkwardly between the two. The characters are either too shallow or too bitter to be truly likable - but it was kept watchable by some solid casting, some surprising musical choices and a rather brilliantly misdirected final twist.
