I originally rated this programme 9/10 with the use of Jay Blades as a superfluous 'foreman / manager' the only real criticism. Although at the time I mentioned the sentimentality of the back stories to the repaired items wasn't a particular issue, it seems the BBC has now taken this aspect to be the focus of this programme since moving it to a prime time viewing slot. This is to the detriment of showing details of the fantastic skills of the craftsmen, craftswomen and experts who really should be the stars of the show. Instead, a lot of the repairs are skipped over in preference to extended sob stories about the families and their treasured tatty possessions. Another dumbing down exercise by the BBC that does nothing except reduce a once brilliant programme where you wanted it to go on and on into one that is worth recording and fast forwarding through the violins. Such a shame
