Kinjiro seems like an ordinary seventeen year old boy; he has a problem though
any contact with girls gives him a nosebleed! He manages to cope all right until one day he learns that Konoe Subaru; one of the most popular boys in school is in fact a girl! Konoe is also the butler to Kanade Suzutsuki; the sadistic daughter of the school principal and if she is to keep her job she must keep her real gender a secret throughout high school. Inevitably these two protagonists become friends and even develop feelings for each other
which leads to some awkward rumours concerning Kinjiro's sexuality. In the following episodes they must deal with Konoe's female fan clubs (she has two!) and Kanade's attempts to cure Kinjiro's phobia without exposing Konoe's true gender
something that may be difficult when they go to locations like the beach and a hot spring!
While this is far from being a classic anime series it is good light hearted fun and for once there is a good reason for the male protagonist not to respond to the numerous girls around him. The character designs are fairly distinctive although how anybody is supposed to think Konoe is a boy is quite a mystery; she has feminine features and her butler's uniform is clearly made for the female figure! There is also no obvious reason why secondary character Nakuru has cat-ears apart from to sell DVDs to viewers with a busty catgirl fetish! While it may not be too believable it is pretty funny and ultimately that is what matters in a series like this. Inevitably there is a fair amount of fan service although not as much as many similar series. Overall this is a fun series that is worth watching if you want something that isn't too deep.
These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles; unusually there does not appear to be a dubbed version so people who like to watch their anime in English may be disappointed.
