Phil seems like...a nice guy...I guess. But that doesn't necessarily make for a high quality food and travel show. He seems to have essentially no understanding of the places he visits or the the food he is eating. It makes me physically uncomfortable to watch him interact with others as he seems to think the only thing important in human interaction is to engulf people with weird hugs and stupid one-liners.
With absolutely no valuable cultural or culinary information to impart and a complete lack of awareness, this show is absolute trash and it appalls me that people seem to like it. What went wrong....?
Now I might just be a jaded Bourdain fan, but I don't need some guy without any relevant qualifications to tell me he thinks someone is "nice" or something tastes "good". Do yourself a favor and skip this show unless you are the lowest common denominator, in which case this should suit you perfectly.
