My First Turkish drama experience.
First of all, in order to constructively review Kurulus, remove Ertugrul fan hat, yes this is continuation of what was started in Dirilis (Resurrection) but this is now Kurulus (Establishment) for that the series has to adopt different kind of energy.
The pace in Ertugrul was much slower, the energy demonstrated by Ertugrul's character was much grounded as the story is paving the way for establishment to occur.
Osman brings in a different kind of energy, a rebel who would not compromise Islamic/Turkish values no matter how things get difficult the moto is Freedom (Huryat) or martyrdom (shahadat), hasn't reached yet the wisdom of a leader however has all the right ingredients to become one. The story is presenting Osman as a vulnerable, Pragmatic and a strong-willed believer who yields to no one. Season one, is more like the making of Osman Bey from a Raw leader to a seasoned one under the patronage of influential Islamic leader Shaikh Edebali. The disruptive energy Burak brings in on screen would make you believe only such energy can breakthrough and establish a state. The writer nailed it in terms of differentiating between Ertugrul's character and Osman's, although both characters has many in common yet Osman's character is an evolved version, coupled with unsettling vibe & sense of humor.
Osman & Bala Hatun, to those who cannot rest without making obvious comparison between the new couple with the old one (Ertugrul & Halime) think about it this way your parent's classic love story and today's vibrant intense younger couple love story who wants to achieve together. Bala Hatun's character is precisely what Osman needs in order to become who he needs to become, a young, strong believer of the cause who were also raised to become a warrior unlike halime who despite presenting strength yet always ended up being fragile & broken.
The Chemistry between the two is just mind blowing, I can't fathom why the fact Osman appearing as 10 years older than Bala is so appealing. Every scene they share together, the energy of intense love vibrates off the screen. Simply mesmerizing.
