I still have the arrow  on my left leg pointing up to the knee complete with the surgeon's  initial a full week after the procedure.  A tribute  to the effectiveness of the leg bag.
The reason why the surgeons draw the picture and don't rely upon verbal instructions can be summarised by the shocked doctor saying .. "nurse I  asked you to remove his spectacles  "
