Maybe, but it drives page views which makes advertising on AVF more valuable and supports the genuine community... Requiring minimum posts might also incentivise posting dross and would need greater mod intervention.
As an aside, I once registered on a football team forum and was restricted to naff beginner forums until I'd had 50 "likes" of my posts. I posted for about a week and gave up because I couldn't contribute to the discussions I was genuinely interested in. That forum has a very narrow band of regular users and I'm not sure it's what we would want avf to be
