Thanks for the further info....my limited experience with ball-games is two ... Rugby where I could follow the ball since it's in the group of merry-men 90% of the time.... and weeks later; a professional football game which IMHO was a disaster - the ball traveling too fast in the air and not knowing where it might land. Obvious, more experience should improve this, along with tell-tale signs:-  Like the players grouped to play the ball as it lands.  I found the sky-exposure was too bright, effectively burning out the very small ball - and if I zoom-in then the chances of video-capture are much reduced. I thought of a double-gang tripod fitting that would allow two camcorders to run most of the time . . . ( and maybe I speak the match-time when one is started ). The idea being they both "track" although one is marginally less as it will be for WIDE.
As to framing, I suspect a wire-frame could be better than using the EVF or LCD - both have a marginal delay and are nothing like the optical quality of our eyes... The wire frame could contain both the Wide and Tele views, so you can judge if/when one is too far off.  It would require quite a bit of mechanical jiggery, as it will need to cope with L-R ......and Vertical for the Tele-camcorder. However, it could be a very impressive piece of kit -and-  soon would improve framing. I think using the camcorder-view is too restricting.... our eye peripheral-vision is particularly good for movement..... whereas the camcorder is a restriction.

It was a cold wet day and having no interest in Sports I never went back....

Filming in 4K may be good for 1080 - since you effectively have a Pan-Crop within the frame.  However, my camcorder's  a 55x Zoom which has the BOSS stabaliser  so I didn't find the framing too bad ( when I could find the football) - the Rugby was much more successful, until the regular "Mexican Waves" blotted the views!

Shown a few times,it doesnt seem to sink in 4k far better at long zooms as well as wide shots,120x i zoom 3360mm is a fair zoom.Best watched on a good 4K tv.
The FZ2000 does not have 2 card slots but 1.

Just a quick update.. mentioned above that Wooden Camera built me a custom cable for my Wooden Camera dbox to power my sony AX53 with. They looked up the specs on the AX53 and figured out the AC powered input (e.g. the cord Sony sends to power the camera via AC outlet, instead of batteries). They built the cable with regulated output for that DC input on the camera. It was a little pricey, but worth it especially in the case when I have the camera 21 feet up and need it up for over an hour and the battery on the camera lasts about an hour.

Anyway, initially about every 5 minutes my camera was shutting off, then back on again. causing a 3 second blackout of video and on my Atomos recorder, separate recording files. I thought it was the adapter they built.. didnt make sense because it wasnt happening when using battery. I still am not entirely sure if this is only a problem with when using the AC input.. but it turns out two things happen. First, as I am using HDMI out and not recording on the camera, it has an auto shutoff mode. I also found that there is an auto demo mode that the unit goes in to after some amount of time not being used. I dont know which one of the two options fixed it.. but I turned both to off and now I am able to get a continuous feed from the camera without it turning off. I am able to get about 2.5 hours of use powering the camera and my Atomos recorder/monitor off of the one battery I have.  I will most likely be buying a 2nd battery soon as a backup, which I also have a T mount that can hold 2 batteries and automatically switch from one to the next when one battery gets low, giving me a potential 5 hours or so of continuous shooting, give or take depending on the capacity of the two batteries.

Now if I could just get really clean clear focussed output no matter where the camera points to at night games.. that would be fantastic!!

Glad to read issues are becoming "sorted" - I guess when you are working a camcorder in a situation the designers didn't think of . . . you are ever-so likely to find issues.
The "night" issue -  how does it perform in daylight ( and again),  at dusk? This might suggest it's a low-light issue, since the Sensor will be working hard and the lens nearly wide-open so may lack some sharpness....
Are you in "manual-focus" or allowing the AF to take-over.... under those conditions it really likes some contrast to work with.

Supplied batteries will be typically 1hr, when first fully-charged. I bough a "4hr" for my CX410 and the 1hr battery hardly gets any use ( Must remember to keep it charged!) . . .  I don't use any alternative power source.

How are you making out with your setup of the Sony AX53. I too have a Hi-Pod and was considering upgrading to this camera.
