So..

Last physical activity was 13 years ago when I played badminton for an hour...

Having a current health scare so decided to be a bit more active..

Downloaded the couch to 5K app (NHS app).

Managed it (8 x 1 minute runs) last night in my man made clingy running gear...

Quite proud of myself!

Keep it up, just look for lots of small improvements week by week, not big jumps than injuries or plateaus.

Well... Felt really good at work today so I did it again, just got in.

Feeling tired in the legs but great mentally.

47 tomorrow so let's see what happens!

The app says leave a day between runs. I may not run tomorrow but I get the feeling I may want to!

What's odd was the fact that I ran almost exactly the same distance, within 10 metres, but tonight I felt I was slower. Weird.

I wonder what all the people going past must have thought as I was talking to myself! Giving myself motivational 'words'!

I've just gone and downloaded the app too. I'm not much of a runner as I have some pretty bad back and hip problems.
I work long shifts too, so don't have much free time and I'm always knackered, but I'm desperate to get rid of my middle aged spread...

It's best to start in the kitchen.
You are what you eat, so be more aware of foods.
I work long shifts too (4 on 4 off, 12  hours), and manage it. I also suffer from a bad back which luckily comes and goes, so have good days and bad.
You have got to stop making excuses for not training, even if it's only a half hours walk.
Hopefully the app will help, but you have to have the correct frame of mind in the first place.

Well my missus is a nutritionist and I studied martial arts in different disciplines and different levels for nearly 30 years so I've the food and exercise bases covered. However I ended up in hospital because of my back late last year and recovery has had to be slow to prevent me from setting myself back.
My missus cook's only healthy meals made from fresh ingredients and although I do treat myself it isn't often or regular.

I've managed to start walking more with less pain and I'm waiting to hear from the hospital about Caudal epidural steroid injections in my spine.  Plan is, that will enable me to do more exercise, and maybe learn to run a bit.

Just re read this back to myself and it sounds like I'm being a bit grumpy.  My apologies, it's not meant that way, I'm just knackered (as usual, you know how it is).

Quick update in case it's not been seen in other threads..
I had the caudal epidural and within a few days I started the app (c25k).
Loving it and making good progress. Up to wk5 day1 today. It's meant to be the toughest as it has the biggest step up in difficulty....
