Molly and Josh, her brothers best friend, are on the same flight home to attend a family wedding. On the plane Josh learns his father is terminally ill and his fathers only regret is he never got to meet the girl Josh would someday marry. To make his dad happy, Josh tells his dad that he has met that girl, and it is Molly. The news gets out and Molly and Josh have to pretend to be engaged for both families. So far it sounds like typical Romantic Comedy blather, but it is so much more. The dialog is brilliant. The "Oh no you didn't" "Oh no he didn't" "Oh yes he did" scene I watched four times before continuing to the end of the movie. After reaching the end I immediately watched the movie again from the start.
The performance from all the actors is a pleasure, from the facial expressions of Molly's sister in law to the scene with Molly's adorable infant nephew. If you want to laugh, watch this movie. If you want to cry, watch this movie. If you haven't teared up by the end of the movie, keep watching for the real end of the movie.
There were two scenes that were unpleasant. One scene had Josh arranging sex with a complete stranger while waiting for his flight. She was a large, unattractive, aggressive black woman with hair shorter than your carpet. The second scene had Josh lusting after a black woman whose hair was a two foot stove pipe column with a sage brush top. The point being made here was that Josh was not merely a player, but a pig that jumped everything with a pulse. The scene with Josh having sex with a ninety year old, four hundred pound man didn't make it into the movie. After four viewings, I had to edit these two scenes out of the movie. Now the movie is perfect.
