Atmospheric murder mystery with comic touches. A tourist in Rome (Leticia Roman) witnesses a murder but nobody believes her. A doctor (John Saxon) also falls in love with her. Together they try to find out what's going on.
Fun, fast-moving movie. It's light but enjoyable. The film looks fantastic and Bava creates a very eerie mood and provides some very funny laughs also. There are numerous stand-out sequences...especially the one when Roman is alone in an apartment at night and sees somebody trying to get in. Very spooky.
The script doesn't make a lot of sense (but then that's never been a strong aspect of Bava films), but the visuals are great and Roman and Saxon make a very attractive couple. Seeing Saxon so young and handsome is incredible!
One of Bava's best. Well worth catching.
