Better read the book or watch the original film from the 80's

It's so wrong in so many places, I don't know where to start.
The original movie was both, repulsing and fascinating at the same time. It felt true and authentic to Christiane F's life story, she described in her book.

This series is the total opposite: a badly executed high gloss wannabe Hollywood version. It doesn't even show the slightest horror of drugs and prostitution.
Also it just doesn't feel like the 70's. Contemporary pop music (except of some original Bowie songs in the pilot) meets modern boho retro 70's clothing and props style...
This has nothing to do with the 70's or the book except the title.

Even, if this would be an original story, it lacks originality, interesting characters and a gripping storyline.
