I'm not usually big on zany but I loved this. A fast-paced fourth-wall-breaking comedy from Olsen and Johnson about their efforts to turn their hit stage show into a movie. Full of so many great lines and gags and playing around with filmmaking conventions. The hits are so frequent you don't have much time to dwell on the misses. From the opening in "Hell" to the nonstop hilarity of the climax, complete with Frankenstein's Monster cameo (the film was released by Universal), it's one laugh after another. Right up there with "Sh! The Octopus" as one of the weirdest ahead-of-its-time pictures made during the Golden Age. The only parts I didn't like were when the focus was on the corny musical romance. But at least they tried to keep these scenes short and I did enjoy a gag in one. Definitely recommended.
