Problem Displaying iPad

Here's my setup:
iPad->adapter->display

Simple, right?

The adapter in this case has, on one end, a 6' lightening cord going into the iPad, and on the other end a female hdmi plus a usb cord to conect to power.I use a male-to-male hdmi cable to connect the adapter to the display.

So far, so good.EXCEPT, that after a while the image on the display gets frozen, and changing the image on the ipad, or even unplugging the iPad from the adapter, does nothing. The image is still frozen on the display.Turning the display on and off does nothing, the frozen image reappears after the display comes back on.Changing hdmi inputs on the display does nothing either, the frozen image follows the hdmi cable. The only way to unfreeze the image is to unplug the adapter from its power source.

So.... have you ever heard of this happening before? What is the solution?Should I try another adapter?I can't babysit this equipment and replug the adapter everytime it freezes.

What are you using for power, just a thought but I had a Chromecast connected to the USB on my TV that did all sorts of weird stuff, plugging into a decent USB adapter cured my issues so I think the power on the TV USB was insufficient. Try a decent adapter with at least 2.1A output and see if makes a difference.

Failing that I'd say the adapters faulty.

It certainly sounds like a faulty converter box if disconnecting both ends doesn't change the output, although as Jamie say it may be power issues.

Sounds like a dodgy adapter. Never had this issue with mine. I've go this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hoidokly-Adapter-Digital-Connector-Compatible-903-3/dp/B07J4SDWMW/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1545598577&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=lightning to hdmi&psc=1

Mine pulls power from the Ipad, so no external power required.

Thanks so much for your quick replies.

When I am back at work (after the New Year), I wil check the amperage on the power adapter. That's a good idea.If replacing that doesn't do the trick, then a new adpater is in the cards.

I will report back

OP here.Thank you all for your replies.I am now back at work. The usb power was the issue. Not enough amperage.I am now using a 2.4a adapter, and the image does not freeze.Thank you so much to Jamie who was quick to point that out and to everyone else who contributed their thoughts.

Peace out.

(Do the kids still say that?)

No idea
I've got kids and I've no idea what they're saying half the time, I thought I was still quite cool but apparently I'm embarrassing if you're an 11 year old girl, I can't even beat her at Mario Kart.
