I tried to connect some regular earbuds to the camcorder and there was no audio. However, now there appears to be no audio coming out of the camcorder speaker. There used to be, but I've checked all the settings. Seems like the AV port on the camcorder is a little messed up (and now the camcorder too)?
Sounds like your camcorder is duff.
I tried to borrow a neighbor's minidv camcorder to see if that would be any better, but theirs won't even load a tape. So, to continue, I'm left with a couple of options:
-find/purchase another minidv camcorder and try with my MacBook Air
-Get another firewire cable to use with my camcorder and maybe get better sound and picture exported.
-Try on another Mac which has built-in firewire (therefore foregoing the thunderbolt adapter)
-Lastly, I was looking at these Minidv video editing decks on ebay. What do they do exactly?...
