It's silly that Orange can't just say they're EE, been with them for donkey's years. So belt   braces is to get the EE travel router back up & running? Wonder if Orange/EE would do me a package deal for phone & router, since I'd be with them for both? Will go for the Motorola E5with thanks data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

EE was formed back in 2010 when Orange and T-Mobile merged and there was heavily publicity and rebranding going on until 2015ish

I don't know how much your use your phone, but it's probably not worth going for anything other than a pay as you go sim in the travel router if it's only being used for power cuts and holidays.

Thanks, that is definitely what I want - pay-as-you-go. Still have the router with a micro-sim card inside, which will be inert since I stopped that agreement with EE. Hopefully I can apply to to re-activate the sim, as a pay-as-you-go arrangement?

The landline should not fail unless it relies on power in your house.
As I have mentioned you need data on a mobile device to allow internet access when wi fiis down. The E5 or far better G6 play do not require any further cables but do need Data and as I have suggested get a contract sim.
Orange = EE = Plusnet = BT mobile and owned by BT.
Check what deals your internetsupplier currently offer. Can be around £5-7 per month for a good amount of data.

Trouble with a lot of PAYG data sims is you buy x amount of data and dependant on that size of data is how many months it lasts for. PAYG is way way more expensive in the long run. How much do you normally spend on your current PAYG sim per month, just take an average.

Well just checked it out via EE and 200meg = £2 = 30days. Way over priced, next one is £7 For 2G and 30days only so you may as well get a contract sim in a new phone and be done with it.

I've no idea, but pay as you go sims are usually sent out for free it's not a big deal if the current one is junk.

That's a add on rather than normal pay as you go. I was just suggesting the standard 1p per megabyte PAYG rate for the travel router, or whatever EE charge.

200meg = £2 = 30days is PAYG. 200meg being the cheapest. Like all PAYG sims you load up in advance. Difference with data sims they also time limit you.

Generally with pay as you go sims you're free to use your permanent credit for any type of service, including data. The time-limited add-ons can provide better value for periods of heavy use.

But looking it up it does seem to be that EE have restricted data use on their pay as you go sims and require an add-on to be bought every 30 days.

If that's the case then locked devices can generally also be used for virtual networks providers using the same network, so someone like 1pMobile which operates over EE's network should be an option.

Confused now, have an old Motorola mobophone with sim card, and new Motorola without sim - don't want to be running 2 phones with 2 sim cards. The EE travel-router also has a micro-sim in it. What do I do now please? Thanks.
