Both could be good options. Being in the north of the island Puerto de la Cruz is a little cooler and has a higher chance of rain.On the plus side it has nice restaurants with live music and is very convenient for Loro Parque, which is well worth a visit, unless animal type parks are not your thing.

We have stayed at the Iberostar Anthelia in Costa Adeje which is expensive but worth it, in my opinion.

Not quite Madeira in fact 75km Northeast off Madeira, but we are off to the tiny Portuguese island of Porto Santo very soon, staying in the Pestana.

Weather this month will be like December I'd guess, but whether they are actually open so late into the season for Xmas I don't actually know (but will ask)

Thought about Cape Verde? According to Google it is mid 20s in December and your not likely to find any 18to30s erc

It's also increased in cost by about 30-35% in about 12 months

talking of dress codes - one hotel I'm staying at says there are no shorts allowed in the restaurants - only long trousers (cyprus)... do you think jeans will be ok..?

SteakAndCake Publish time 2-12-2019 22:23:19

I would expect so.Nothing worse than pretentious foreign hotels thinking 5* means they must create stupid arbitrary rules to inconvenience the quest.

yeah, I've been ok with jeans in the past - I just wanted to double check that it wasn't a one off... data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Probably because the usual winter holidays in Tunisia and Sharm are not available. More demand=higher price

Not to mention the £££ going down the toilet.

A right double whammy.

True story. I've held off buying Euros over here, and am getting my folks to withdraw £300.00's worth on my behalf from a German ATM on their fee free card as they are going over this weekend.
