Travel Money

People whats the best / cheapest way of travelling without too much cash.

We are off to Turkey all inc but some of the restaurants charge 7€ for ala carte which is fine but I don't want to be carrying a load of cash I tend to pay most things on card. I have a flex plus account which charge 2% exchange load ( not 100% sure what that is ) and my halifax card they charge a stupid amount per transaction so won't be using that..

Any body any suggestions please.

You mean Nationwide FlexPlus? The 2% is a non-sterling transaction fee.
However, they don't charge you for cash withdrawals, so you could use your card in an ATM for free.

One thing to keep in mind using any card abroad, some places offer to bill you in sterling as opposed to the local currency. Be very careful accepting this as they can choose their own exchange rate, which will almost certainly be worse than a ban/bureau de change/Visa charge on your card.

New offering:Tandem.Fee free, city exchange rate, etc., AND 0.5% cashback on all transactions.Otherwise Halifax Clarity, Post Office, and others.    (Unlike eg Revolut you don't have to give them all your money before you spend it; you pay it off afterwards. Thus - you don't have to guess how much you need.etc.)

Try Monzo too - no fees when using card abroad or at ATM's. There is a waitlist at the moment, i have a golden ticket that could be of use to you.
