Spot on.
Learning a specific art and taking it on as part of your life is how i'm approching this, many people ar jumping on the bandwagon of the succses the UFC has gained, which i may be guilty of, but i'm level headed enough to see the benefits of these arts.
It's a lifestyle change aswell as a goal orientated hobby. I'm a very competitive person by nature and i can already see i'm gonna push myself to new levels and soak in as much as possible.

Currently train in Tang Soo Do and have been doing for about 20 Months. I am currently 7th Gup and I will be going for my 6th Gup grading next Saturday. I did a bit of Judo was I was younger (yellow belt) but I gave that up. Also tried Karate when I was younger but I had a bad experience where I pretty much came away with a torn groin after my first lesson data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I am thoroughly enjoying my training and the level of fitness and flexibility I have achieved after vegetating in an office for 7 years and going up to about 19 and a half stone. I am 6" 2' and currently 15 st 2 pounds (I never did stick to diets properly data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 ).

With regards to Brian Jacks, when i first did Judo when I was about 6 or 7, he was the club president and would quite often turn up to take the odd class, not quite enough that i could claim to be a Brian Jacks protegy though

When I was younger I reached 4th Kyu in Sankukai Karate (Purple belt), the last 3 Kyu's are 3 browns. Its an interesting style of Karate, as in incorperates some Aikido and Judo.In fact I think it was founded by a Judo master.
Sankukai Karate
I stopped training at 14, but last year I found a gym that trained in the same style, so I took myself and my son down there. He is now a blue belt (5th Kyu) and I got to 2nd Kyu but Ihaven't trained in over 6 months due to a back injury and and ankle injury.
My son and I also do Muay Thai boxing, I am orange, and the boy is now green (got it sunday).
Was also doing some KFM, but its hard to fit all these in when your a night worker, and was only getting to the acadamy on sundays before my injury.
Our acadamy also do MMA, but thats on moday nights, so I Can't attend.
Never done any competitions, but have had to fight in my youth.

I got up to brown 2 in Shotokan karate back in 88, before I jacked it in.
Then went on to study Kempo-Jitsu for several years. I remember the first time I was sparring. Going from very light contact to no holds bar full contact was an experience. I was getting smashed around by this girl about the same age as me and for the life of me I couldn't focus, all I could feel was pain and shock and all I could see were these jugs bouncing up and down whilst I was getting my arse handed to me, then I did it.. I punched her straight in the tits! She stood there for a few seconds with a blank expression on her face before she burst into tears. Still makes me cringe thinking about it.
Don't know why I talking about this to a bunch of strangers, but yeah I'd like to learn Krav Maga but the seminars are few and far between.
