Not the greatest six nations quality wise but hey it's a grand slam

Greg Hook Publish time 2-12-2019 20:50:56

History never cares about the quality, it only remembers the victor.

Would I be offended if someone called me English boy ,Saes boy, slaphead   living in Sussex boy ? No! The N word is particularly offensive because it denigrates black people .Gypsy is not an offensive word andadding the word boy on the end of it doesnt make it so .If he had used the word pikey you might have a point and Samson might well have felt offended .As things standhe is not so its end of

More relief than anything else, but England clearly deserved to win it. No I can only hope the with the talent available, they keep improving.

My 6 nations team of the tournament

FB Stuart Hogg now clearly ahead of everyone else

RW Anthony Watson – picks himself , great talent

OC Jonathan Joseph = didnt show much in attack despite two very well taken tries but was awesome in defence

IC Jamie Roberts – tough call between him and Robbie Henshaw

LW George North – back to some excellent form

FH Owen Farrrel – The form fly half even though he played at 12 .Dan Biggar doesnt not get a look in because he is the main reason Wales are playing such a one dimensional game.If Gatland had any sense he would go Priestland

SH Rhys Webb I decided to go with him even thoiugh he hadnt played enough games

LH Jack McGrath

H Guilhelm Guirado – the only French playet to fully acquit himself

TH WP Nell the south African has been oustanding

Lock Mauro Itoje- The find of the season

Lock George Kruis – the player of the tournament

Flanker CP Stander another outstanding South African

Flanker John Hardie

Number 8 Billy Vunipola , who else

3 Welsh, 3 Scots ,1 Frenchman, 2 Irishmen and 6 English .Seems fair

I went to a "Show racism the red card" roadshow with my sons football team recently. Gypsy was certainly classed as a racist term in the presentation. There were terms that were classed as acceptable in the past but aren't nowadays.
There are terms that wouldn't bother me personally as the world has gone PC mad but the guy who called him a gypsy has got off lightly considering the way things are nowadays.

He is now being accused of muttering the words "get back in your caravan".I assume they must have very clever lip readers to pick that one up and I am only surprised they didn't add "---- a few sheep on you way there ".Frankly its gone beyond PC stupid .Rugby players sledgeeach other all the time .its part and parcel of competitive team sport where there is a high degree of aggression involved
As for gypsy now being a racist term , does that also mean that every word which is used to describe certain ethnic groups should be regarded as such ? Saes, sassenach, pom, rosbif, limeyapplied to an English person.Should he feel offended?! Actually context and tone of voicedoes matter , but that applies to any term of abuse.

My personal favourite sledge is "Oi Tufnell lend us your brain we are buildng an idiot" but I suspect Tufnel was largely amused by it because it is funny

seems as though the "racist" taunts weren't all one way. The irony is there is nothing remotely posh about Marler. He went to a bog standard comp school O’Shea claims Marler called 'posh English ****’ in defeat

BT Bob Publish time 2-12-2019 20:50:58

He hasn't got off with anything yet......

Joe Marler calling Samson Lee 'Gypsy boy': Misconduct hearing set

And as for O'Shea's claims..... it's taken how long to come up with that?

So World Rugby have deliberated, cogitated and digested and delivered their verdict:

2-match ban and a £20,000 fine to be paid to a "suitable equality charity".
