Seems like the athletic judges are just as corrupt as the boxing ones... DQ the women's USA 4x100 relay team for dropping the Baton. They appeal that they got knocked by Brazil when they didn't & get let back in. GB men's 4x400 relay gets DQ'd for no reason at all, we appeal it and gets denied. Funny how the team taking the men's GB spot is brazil...cant kick the host nation out the final can they.
Edit: seeing they are saying his foot was over the line before the exchange saying he started running before he got it. , I can see 2/3 other teams with there foot just over the line and no DQ. Harsh on the team really

Indeed. Possibly on the back of China being so poor, but we've exceeded the medal tally of 2012 which I didn't think we would do. Team GB has done superbly again.
One guaranteed silver in the Boxing final later, hopefully a gold. Shame Tom Daley didn't make yesterday's final, no idea why he dived so poorly after dominating the prelim.
Watching some of the sports we don't seem to feature in this country is interesting. The Handball, Volleyball and Water Polo can be fun. Although Water Polo just looks like one big punch up in a pool!
Really enjoyed the games, despite it being terrible from an Irish perspective. Some great memories, and the first games that my kids all got into.
Looking forward to catching up on some sleep this week.

It was dreadful in many ways from an Irish perspective, not just the medal tally but the corruption in amateur boxing which cost us a number of medals and of course the insane ticketing scandal. However a few bright notes not only in rowing and sailing but the 400 metre hurdles, the badminton, the modern pentathlon, the marathons. More funding needs to be pumped into those sports and less into crappy boxing.
Tiny amounts are assigned for Irish athletes compared to the huge sums British Olympics receives since Atlanta.
