A comprehensive guide to all restrictions that apply to items sent by Royal Mail. | Royal Mail Group Ltd doesn't seem contradictory or unclear.

The maximum number of batteries allowed in each package is the minimum number required to power the equipment plus two spares.

Hmmm so the batteries have to be IN the device and not allowed to post outside of device YET you can have the device fully loaded AND have another 2 spares laying in the box OUT of the device!!

...AND Business customers can send up to 4 WITHOUT equipment up to a max weight of 5 Kg....

twist Publish time 2-12-2019 07:00:36

Not contradictory at all is it?!

loz Publish time 2-12-2019 07:00:36

But you are either a business customer or not a business customer.

In what way is it 'contradictory'?

Are you a business customer?

loz Publish time 2-12-2019 07:00:36

In what way is it contradictory?

You are either sending them in the device, or not.
If they are in the device, the restrictions are different because the device could possibly be activated and the batteries and device might start to get hot.

If they are not in the device, they can't be activated, and hence you can send more batteries, because they are less of a risk.

I don't really see what is 'contradictory' about it.Do you mean contradictory - i.e. one rule contradicts another?I can't see that myself.

So youre saying there are two different ways of shipping, either 'active' or not.

The maximum number of batteries allowed in each package is the minimum number required to power the equipment plus two spares.

This quote states you can send non active items with an active item in the same package.

The point Jim was making was that a private individual cant even send a single small battery but a business can send 4 batteries up to 5KG. Does that mean a business will follow the packaging requirement better than an individual posting a tiny battery?
