Sleep tracker
I've had terrible sleep patterns lately. Naps during the day, up half the night, wake up late on days off, struggle on work days.I work shifts, day or night.
There's no way I'd ever manually log my sleep but I wanted an easy solution so am thinking of a fitness band. What would people recommend?
My main criteria are - must know when I'm sleeping. Sometimes I doze off in a chair and have an uncomfortable hour's nap. does this log?
- must be comfortable to wear when sleeping - I've never worn a watch or anything else to bed so don't want a behemoth on my wrist
- a nice iOS app with decent interface (and good web features/interface)
I don't really care about steps or any other fitness tracking. I have an apple watch, bluetooth HRM, smart scales, step tracker on my phone and general apathy for these measurements except at certain specific times, for which I already have highly rated dedicated devices
on first look, Jawbone Up 3 for £50 from amazon seems like a good option. i've backordered one.
please share your thoughts and views! I work a three shift pattern so I can only sympathise on a poor sleep regime.I'm lucky to get 5 hours sleep when on nights and can never get a long lie whether working or not.
Since you already have an Apple Watch have you tried the sleep activity apps available. I have to admit, recent issues have been down to me having poor control over my sleeping. At the same time, I have never felt so tired or napped so much during the day ever.
I've been on the same shift pattern for 4years and apart from some adjusting at the beginning, had really got used to it, so wonder if there's an underlying issue?
I ordered a Jawbone Up 3 in the end.
I don't really use my apple watch any more and wouldn't like to wear it to bed. I hope this fitness band isn't too intrusive and helps me log my sleep (including naps in the chair!). I have a pebble watch that logs my sleep, don't think I'll do day time naps though, do any of then do that? I doubt they do! But would be great if they did. Just had a 40 minute doze in front of the tv and if they logged, I'd have a great understanding of my habits A bit off topic, but I bought the Sense sleep monitor by Hello. After a few weeks it's just telling me the common sense stuff I already knew: try to get 7.5 to 8 hours a night, go to bed at the same time every day (weekdays and weekends) and make sure your sleeping room isn't too warm or bright. I opted for a Jawbone Up 3. Reviews claimed it was the best sleep tracker.
Wasted an entire night trying to get it to pair, got very little sleep and have not had a decent kip since data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Item doesn't work - shipped from the factory broken - and is a damning insight into a company so bad that several years ago they refunded all customers of their flagship product. I naively believed they only survived the PR nightmare of that incident by committing fully to QC. Their support were happy to send a replacement (pending) albeit with a rather slow turnaround, but this does not paint them in a good light (and perhaps affects my warranty - reports online suggest a 12 month warranty automatically switches to 3 months for replacements). Had you looked at the ResMed S ? It's non contact less but specialisedfor sleep My wife has just got an activity band from Aldi that has a sleep monitor that you set when you go to bed / sleep. Might work for the OP It looks good, I would be tempted but I sleep away from home often so a wearable suits me better.
I'm about 2 weeks into project Jawbone and a little frustrated with the unreliability (latest problem - about 4 days lost because of syncing issues)
but it is quite handy to know how many hours I sleep - ranges from 2.5 hours a night to a mammoth 16!! (that was a serious sleep debt to pay back!)
it has also let me know why I hate the world and face is drooping halfway down my head - it's because I've gone to sleep too late and woken up during an inappropriate time.
It also seems I don't sleep deeply compared to normal people.
So far I think the up is a good intro to sleep monitoring, but I'd like to see an improvement to the app. Poring over older data is not very easy, and there's no web interface. Withings is far better at this! (I use their scales)
