Can't you get them to print "Beginner's Tripod" on it instead then ? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

As others have said buy cheap buy twice, I made that mistake with a tripod.

Sorry have to disagree after years of buying tog gear.I think most well known company's selling tripods are way over priced for what they are. That tripod I posted the link for.... I'm sure these other brands would stick their makers name on it and charge 5 or maybe 6 times the cost! That is just a rip off.
Sure if you buy a tripod at £7 is going to be crap. But that tripod, again, that I looked to is worth way more...
I have if the so called better more expensive tripods.... And I have to say for the prices they charged.... Pretty disappointed.
I think nowadays with some research.... You can get a good solid tripod for £20-£30 easily.

Doesn't it depend on how much you use it? I've got a £7 special that I bought in China. It gives me the rage every time I have to use it but I only use it for the xmas family group photo and when taking pictures of stuff to put on eBay. So a handful of times a year it's excellent value considering fundamentally it works fine and what I paid for it.
If I was taking loads of landscapes or whatever then I'd probably invest in something better.

My £15 camlink job is fine for three posed family group shots a year but frankly it would be a waste of money if you’re on a photography course.
Do you need something for indoor studio or are you venturing out for landscapes?
I can’t imagine taking mine out and about.
Can’t you borrow what you need rather than buy something?

I don't want to borrow one as I like to build my kit up.I've gone ahead and ordered this now anyway: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004RBX0GO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Didn't fancy that ebay item as some of the reviews were bad, and I'm already battling with another ebay dispute for no delivery.

We clearly have had different experiences then, and I guess to an extent it depends on what you want gear you're putting on it.
I won't pay for the top makes of gear, the price if Gitzo and the like make me cringe. However, I've had and used several £30-50 ones and I certainly wouldn't use them again. Probably the cheapest I'd look at would be the red snapper ones.
As your post shows though, YMMV.

Think that's what it can support. The tripod weight is just under 2kg.

Ahh OK, I saw that and then saw some reviews saying it was heavy, some stating around 4kg data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
