Counterfit / knock off filters?

Does anyone know if there is any issues with counterfit filters for branded filters?

I'm looking to change out my old system and filters and the brand I want don't appear to have uk dealers so it would mean shopping on ebay/amazon or grey importer sites i'm not familiar with.

Just wondering if knock offs are common.

Cheers
Shane

What is the Brand?

If the filters are expensive then you can bet that someone will be copying them.... data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

The brand is Haida, (probably should have mentioned that in op)
The are not cheap but not quite up there with Lee etc.

The system is the M10 which is brand new so prob not ripped off as of yet, its the slot in filters I'm more concerned with.

interestingly though I've just found this which tells me counterfeiting of their filters is an issues but also that you are able to prove real or fake.

Problem with that is you wont know until you have them and anyone selling fake are not going to be interested after they have your money.

EBay/PayPal does give buyer/payment protection though...,

I have looked at Camera gear, they are not listed as a dealer on Haida website though and they only have 28 items listed on their entire site across all the brands they say they are dealers for which seems weird to me. ,They certainly don't have much of the Haida line listed at all, including what I want.

I guess if they are genuine dealers though they should be able to get any of the line.

May drop them an email with my list and ask for a price.

I’ve never heard of counterfeit filters but I guess there’s probably counterfeit everything these days if you look for it. My guess is if the price is as you would expect then it’s probably ok, if it seems cheap then it’s more likely to be fake.

Hoya filters are known to run a risk of being fake depending who you buy from, luckily the fakes are/were identifiable.

I've even seen reviews on amazon mentioning getting fake Hoya filters from amazon itself data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Haida filters are good data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I switched to them a couple of years ago.How about buying from a reliable dealer in another country? I can recommend one where I am if you want, not sure if he ships to Uk but worth a try for peace of mind?

Please do recommend.

I messaged cameragearuk a week ago and no response so they presumably can't get them so didn't bother to reply.
