@MikeKay1976 Did you have any joy yet. I set up my Rift on my main PC this evening and running the game vanilla on default in game settings and supper sampling in steamvr @ 140% I get a solid 90fps. I`ve not used any mods or tweaks and the pc is a fresh install a couple of weeks ago. I`m on an i7 7700k and a 1080ti (latest drivers) with no overclocking applied.

If you don't have it get FPSVR from steam. Its great for setting stuff up but I think it only runs in the steamvr runtime.

Hi. I have disabled steamVR opening and am now running as steamvr "free" as you can without using the link from snowdog (not had time for that as my gaming time is super limited)
My gut feeling it is still using steanVR despite what it is telling me but possibly without some of the non essential crap being loaded.
The reason I think this is I tried games that even the Devs have told me directly don't natively run on the rift on steam and they still run. (Is pinballFXVR) Arizona sunshine is also afaik steamvr only on steam and that still works.
End of the day it runs ok on my rig (1080ti) but it would run better natively I think

Just download Open Composite. It doesn't take any time at all to do. Download it. Launch it. Press a button. That's it. When you want to use SteamVR again, launch it and press the other button. Job done.

Hi
just a heads up..... I installed open composite last night, i literally spent 2 mins in FO4 VR to make sure it worked - no sound as it was coming through my headphones not my rift but am sure that will be ok once i change device in windows.

but you are right... performance seemed instantly superior.apparently NMS support is imminent if it is not in already so hopefully will help for that too.

Thanks for the recommendation.

bit of a resurrection here, I picked this up on Steam a little while ago and only just started playing it tonight, im enjoying it but just wondering if any of you have recommendations for things worth doing when playing it on the Rift? performance etc is fine on my system but someitmes stutters and honestly expected better graphics, but enjoying the game so far,

Wrong thread sorry

Am going to buy this on Tuesday I think (not sure how much dosh I'm getting for my birthday yet so might get it over Christmas instead).

I'm spending WAY too much time playing No Man's Sky at the moment. Have done 90 hours since it launched and I had 2 weeks off from the game when I went to Kent for a fortnight.

So I've got NMS, Elite Dangerous, Borderlands 2 VR, Skyrim VR, Fallout 4 VR and GTA V VR Mod to play. I'll probably be a pensioner before I stop playing them lol data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I saw a few snippets saying Borderlands 2 is awful, but then others saying it works perfect on Rift, Think I will skip that one as put about 60 hours into it a few years back with a friend in co-op and totally burnt out on it, good but very repetitive.

Apparently if you have the knuckles and a lighthouse device, the best way to play BL2VR on non oculus hmds is by using revive.
